Time, distance, and disability make no difference when you find your forever mom...

louise1.jpg
Louise Waiting For Her Mom

Louise Wigglebutt's rescue journey began in Tennessee when she was saved from euthanasia by a rescue in her state. When during her vetting it was discovered she had a heart murmer, was deaf, and didn't adjust well to new surroundings, it was clear she would fare best in a special needs rescue and she was transfered to Little Feet and Last Chance.

Months passed and many e-mails asking about Louise were read as she patiently waited for her perfect mom to find her. But when Chris Duca's inquiry made its way to Last Chance's mail box, time was insignificant - There was no doubt Louise had been waiting for Chris.

There were 800 miles separating Louise's foster home and her perfect forever home, but miles didn't matter - This match was meant to be! Travel plans were organized and Miss Louise Wigglebutt began her long awaited journey home.

The first leg of her journey was provided by Kris Jackson and Sarah Bauer of Little Feet, Indiana, driving from Indiana to Kentucky and back to settle Louise into their foster care while her new mom made arrangements to fly in to pick up her baby girl.

While in foster care with Kris and her son, Daniel, Dr. Melanie Roberts of Allison Lane Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana made certain all Louise's last minute medical needs were met to prepare her for her flight to her new home.

The Wait Is Finally Over!

It was a great day for all when Chris's flight arrived from Minnesota and it was love at first sight for mom and Daughter!

Louise was an natural born traveler and brought smiles from all those she met along her journey home. Even the Captain of her home bound Delta flight made his way to the plane's cabin to meet the charming Louise Wigglebutt!

Louise's rescue story has ended, but her "happy tail" is just begining as she settles in, home at last, with her new forever friends and family.

Whisper

You'd never guess by looking at this picture of the 'Queen of the World', but this little girl once lived in a trailer with almost forty other fukids and had very little human attention. She and her housemates were turned in to a shelter by a relative when the trailer owner was hospitalized.

When we first met this tiny Chi girl, she was hiding behind other kids in a pen, trembling uncontrolably; by far the most frightened baby we had ever seen.  She gained her name "Whisper" when we discovered the only thing that seemed to ease her fear was whispering to her through the bars of the pen.

Whisper spent months in rehab, learing about the world and gaining trust in humans. When we look at this picture of her ruling her domain we know every tiny step she took on the road to her perfect home was worth the time it took to get there.

Daphne

The following poem was written by one of our foster moms - From Daphne to the transporters who traveled hundreds of miles to save her life:

Angels Unaware

Some don't believe in Angels
or things that are "meant to be",
But I felt the hands of many Angels
Heaven sent to rescue me.

So many others die each day;
I don't know why my life was spared,
But God smiled down upon me
and sent his Angels, unaware.

I thought when I saw Angels
they'd wear robes with flowing wings,
but I saw many Angels
wearing faded old blue jeans.

No halos loomed above their heads,
but Angels they must have been;
Although no light surrounded them,
A glow came from within.

I know that I'm alive today
and where I'm "supposed to be"
only because of the Angels
God sent to rescue me.

And when to the Bridge I Travel,
you'll find me waiting there
to bestow my wags and kisses
on my Angels, unaware.

Sugar Pi Chi was once homeless, unloved, and alone in an overcrowed shelter. With a head and eye injury and a heart murmer, sweet Sugar had no chance of adoption and it looked as if her days on Earth were numbered.

Sugar Pi Chi In The Shelter

But "Someone" had other plans for this little girl. A devoted and carging shelter manager help Suger find her way to rescue where she would have all the time she needed to receive medical care and wait for her forever mom to find her.

Sugar With Her Forever Mom

As you can see by her photo, Sugar found Heaven on Earth once she was put into the arms of her Guardian Angel, Deanna.

Sugar has thrived with the commitment and care she's been given and has the one thing we wish for all our kids - Unconditional love.
