What do I do first?
Since the adoption of each of our fukids is considered on an individual basis, the first step is to
look at pictures and read the bios of the kids we have available.
Keep in mind not all breeds and all personalities will fit comfortably into every family. Think about what
part this furkid will play in your family. Are you looking for someone that is playful and social? Devoted only to you? A
happy traveler? Likes to snuggle? Settled and quiet? Just like people, even furkids of the same breed can have different personalities
and dispositions.
Falling in love with a photo of a Chihuahua, Pomeranian, Maltese, or any other breed isn't enough.
Research the breed that has your interest - Be certain this breed will fit comfortably into family and lifestyle.
Discuss this adoption with your family. This is a lifetime committment to a new family member and you need
to know everyone in your home will be happy with the new addition. Show your family a foster's photo and let them
read the bio - If everyone agrees this may be the perfect furkid for your family, then make an inquiry.
How long will the adoption process take?
On an average, the adoption process takes one to two weeks.
Once an application is received, it is first screened to verify all adoption restrictions are met. Those
that pass the initial screening are given reference checks.
Those with excellent references are then reveiwed by our five member Board of Directors that will decide
whether or not this is a suitable home for the needs of this particular foster and a home visit will be approved or denied.
When home visits are approved they are set up as quickly as possible. Once a home visit report is turned
in, an approval or denial is made within twenty four hours.
* Out of state home visits sometimes require extra time to locate a representative.
How much will an adoption cost?
Adoption fees for Little Feet Fosters vary and are based on the reimbursement of the cost of
each individual furkid's vetting so these funds may be used again for the next the little one in need.
Vetting includes spay/neuter, all needed vaccinations, heart worm testing, fecal exam, flea/tick
treatment, and any other medical needs specified by our veterinarian. On an average, this will range from $95.00 to $250.00.
*Special Placement needs fosters may sometimes have a sponser pledging a portion of their adoption fee.
In some cases our Board will also make adjustments to fees when a foster has on-going medical issues that will require lifelong
care.
How do I get more information about a particular foster?
There is a direct mail link posted with each
of our fosters where you can make inquiries about a foster.
When requesting more information, be certain to tell us the name of the foster about whom you are inquiring,
your name, and your location. It is also helpful if you tell us a little about your family. Do you have children? What ages?
What are you looking for in a new family member? Do you have a settled or busy lifestyle?
Because each of our kids live in a private foster home as a family member, our foster moms get to know them
very well. The more information you provide in your initial inquiry, the more quickly we can tell you if a particular foster
would be a good fit into your family. And this can be done before you fill out an application.
How do I get an application?
We are working on our on line application which will be available on this site soon.
Until it is completed you may request an application to be e-mailed directly to you by using the link posted with each
individual foster.
You may also request an application
via snail mail, using the following address:
